World Upon A Wound Collar

Every new world is built upon a wound.

The World Upon a Wound Collar carries one of the central symbols from the story of El Llamafante: the wound from which a new world begins. An egg is laid upon the wound, and from it, the world of El Llamafante begins to unfold.

Nomino sets out in search of colors and happiness, only to discover that she cannot find one without facing the other. When she gets hurt, something unexpected happens. From her wound, the world of El Llamafante begins to grow.

The idea is inspired by a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, in which he imagines nothingness itself as a wound, and the world as something created around it to soothe it. 

This thought became part of the heart of El Llamafante: every new world is built upon a wound. What hurts us can become a place from which something entirely new begins.

The collar is made with deep red glass beads and a handmade and hand painted ceramic hand, carrying the small wound at the center of the story. Each ceramic piece is crafted in Switzerland in collaboration with Claer.
